2020 GENEALOGY CLUB BOOT CAMP
Are you new to genealogy? Starting in February, per popular request, we are once again presenting a Genealogy Boot Camp to our Club Members. It will focus on the basics and will be geared to the beginning genealogist.
Boot Camp 2020 will consist of six teaching sessions, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Monday of the month starting in February All sessions will be in the Fine Arts Room at Orchard Creek.
Barbara Branch, Carole Moore and Bill Kress will be the presenters.
Barbara – Introduction, getting started, conventions, forms, resources.
Online Family Tree Sites: Ancestry (Barbara), FamilySearch (Carole), MyHeritage (Barbara).
April 6 From this point on, the Boot Camp sessions will be delayed, rescheduled and possibly offered in webinar form.
Bill – 1. Intro to Software – Online vs Local, 2. Computer Backup.
Local Genealogy Database Programs:
Bill – Legacy Family Tree.
Barbara – RootsMagic.
Carole – FamilyTree Maker.
Carole – Census
Bill – Resources and searching techniques– Obituaries, Newspapers, FindAGrave, Internet Sites, Google
Carole – DNA
These classes replace the Monday night walk-ins. The computer lab at Orchard Creek is always available for exploration but on boot camp evenings no one will be available for assistance.
